The Oldest Postal Map PDF Print E-mail
The oldest postal map, known as the Peutinger Tables, dates from the late fourth century AD and is preserved in the National Library of Vienna. Compiled by a monk at Colmar, it shows the Roman postal routes from the Indus Valley to Britain, with the mansiones (post stages) and mutationes (relay stations) clearly marked.
