The Bush Mailman PDF Print E-mail
The bush mailman, accompanied by an Aboriginal tracker, made the first overland mailrun in Australia between Melbourne and Sydney early in 1838. The first mailman was John Conway Burke who rode from Melbourne to the Murray River where a second rider carried the mail on to Yass and thence by mail-coach to Sydney.
