The first stamp designer to have his name on any stamps was Louis Yon whose name appears in the grapes forming the head-dress of Ceres on the Bordeaux lithographed series of 1870. The first designer to have his name on British stamps was Clive Abbot, whose two stamps marked the inauguration of the Post Office Tower in October, 1965.
