The least prolific stamp issuing country in recent years was the Canal Zone, which had only issued two stamps since 1968 - 13c and 15c definitives in 1976 and 1978 - and no commemeorative stamps since 1963. It ceased its postal service in September, 1979. Other examples of philatelic conservatism include Nauru - no new stamps between 1937 and 1954; Maldive Islands - no new stamps between 1933 and 1950; Nepal - no new stamps between 1907 and 1949.
