Oldest Named Mail Train PDF Print E-mail
The oldest named mail train in the world is the Irish Mail which began running from London to Holyhead on 1 August 1848. Prior to the completion of the Britannia Tubular Bridge on 18 March 1850, passengers and mail were conveyed by horse-drawn coach over Telford's Menai Bridge from Bangor to Llanfair.
