During the Boxer Rebellion of 1900, Indian stamps overprinted C.E.F. were provided for the use of the Chinese Expeditionary Force, the British Imperial troops who took part in the suppression of the uprising. Stamps with the profile of King Edward VII were similarly overprinted 1904 - 1909 and the Georgian series was likewise issued between 1913 and 1921. These stamps were used by British and Indian garrisons in China up to 1922, when distinctive stamps were withdrawn.
