| Austerity of line and form was taken to its ultimate in a pair of stamps honouring the 'patriot dead' of Ireland and commemorating the fiftieth anniversay of the Troubles (1919 - 1921) and the tragic civil war which followed (1922 - 1923). Since 1965, all Irish stamps have been printed in photogravure by the Stamping Branch of the Revenue Commissioners of Dublin. |
